After 44 years practising as an optometrist and having recently celebrated her 65th birthday and the birth of a new grandson in London, Judith felt that the time was right to retire in July 2024.
She messaged her patients to say goodbye, which sparked the following poem from David Clarke:
"After 44 years of practising
Our Judith is saying goodbye
It’s been! Such a privilege over the years
To have this lovely lady! Look after my eyes
I’ll miss that warm welcome
And! Her heartfelt sunshine smile
But! Judith shall always be around
Not in person, but! In our minds
When Judith first looked into my eyes
It was a memorizing experience
She has the insight and the knowledge
To help me see into the future
Her gentle touch and expert care
From the first visit to the very last
A steadfast presence was always there
She’s been a guardian of our sight, unsurpassed
Thank you, Judith, for all you’ve done
May your retirement be filled with peace and joy
For the years of service, you’ve bestowed on us
It’s! A very sad and emotional goodbye".
David Clarke, 4th July 2024
Thank you for your kind words, David, and we wish Judith all the best for a happy and healthy retirement.
